Oops! What you saw was me fiddling around with one of the styles, which I forgot to turn off!

I'm not happy with it yet, but you can now go into your profile and choose it, if you wish. Its name is 'subSilver'. More styles soon.

Wider, and different colors. Thanks for the feedback! I'll try to have optional, alternate styles by next week.

It installed just fine on my Win 2000 system, Lutz. Both over an existing version in the default path, and also redirected to install to a different disk.

I'm considering a wider screen style, and should have it ready in a few days. Thanks for your input, newdep! And if anyone has comments about the style or functionality of this site, please feel free.

Should changing the board style in my profile give me a different board look?
I have the feature turned off until I get a chance to work on the alternate styles, Hans-Peter. PhpBB should have blanked this option while it is disabled. It's not fair to tease people like that!

What was THAT?

Something happened to our NewLISP Fan Club Forum. Maybe a stray cosmic ray flipped a critical bit. Maybe it was a script kiddie, causing a little trouble. The hosting service is keeping quiet about any hardware problems. . . Whatever caused it, it surprised me too! I'd like to think it's NewLISP rea...

How could I have missed http://www.atlaol.net/newlisp/tutorial.html ? Yes, this is exactly the sort of information that I need, though I doubt that I'll be able to do it all in 21 minutes! And I did notice that there was a problem with: (join '("hello" "world") ":") => "hello world" though it surpri...

Yes, I recognize the beauty of NewLISP, and I am in awe of Lutz' and others elegant solutions to common computer tasks. But I could stare at a one-page listing for a month and not "get"...

Here's the answer I got back from the hosting company. I think they say that older v3 code should be okay, but I'm not sure what this means regarding code intended for v4, such as the current mysql.lsp. ... the problem is not the libmysqlclient.so lib but rather the client mods build with a V3 serie...

That's exactly what happened. They didn't change the web servers when they upgraded the DB server. It's now in the pipeline, all I have to do is wait.

Thanks for the help!

"libmysqlclient.so.10 should be fine as long as they are running MySQL 4.0 and it is running with it. Most of the time you just specify 'libmysqlclient.so' and your machine it is linked to whatever lib is the current one." I changed the ('set libmysqlclient "/usr/lib/libmysqlclient.so.12") to .10. ...

mysql.lsp

I'd like to try mysql.lsp on my hosted site. The host is running MySQL 4.0 as required, but they apparently upgraded from an earlier version and are using libmysqlclient.so.10 rather than the .12 version. The instructions say to use mysql.lsp from a previous version of newLISP in this case, but no v...

Typo

I found a small typo in mysql.lsp. The third line from the bottom should be (close-db)) instead of (close)-db). No big deal.

Installation on commercial web servers

The present Linux version 7.0.4 is obviously intended for a graphic installation, where someone has root privileges. I'd like to try it as a scripting language, and am having trouble installing it standalone in a shared web hosting environment. Shouldn't I be able to untar and make just the newlisp ...
